2024 EDITS Annual Meeting, "High with Low scenarios towards AR7"

2024 EDITS Annual Meeting, "High with Low scenarios towards AR7"

Outcomes

The 2024 EDITS Annual Meeting should advance ongoing long-term tasks such as model complementation exercises, which develop and collect scenarios for deep reductions in energy demand and assess the impacts on climate, economy, well-being and so on. In parallel, EDITS is rapidly progressing with selected key topics as fast streams. It is also time to intensify engagement with other researchers, policymakers and implementers. The following key themes have been chosen to underpin our focus this year:

  • 1. Developing strategies for IPCC and policy impact
  • 2. Strengthening demand-scenarios and progressing with the model complementarity
  • 3. Putting well-being in the center and improving the evidence base

The annual meeting started with a plenary session, providing many opportunities for in-depth discussion, dialogue, and connection. At the same time, sector-focused working groups and side events facilitated efforts to achieve fast-paced results and impact.

A total of 95 people from 18 countries (Japan, United States, Germany, India, Portugal, France, Austria, United Kingdom, Israel, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Hungary), from 48 organizations, participated in the meeting. Of these, 89 people participated in person, and six people participated online. Attendees included people from various fields, including modelers, social scientists, economists, and engineers. Participation was by invitation only to ensure smooth discussion and attention to the definition of future collaboration.
