Energy efficiency in iron and steel sector
RITE has been estimated energy efficiency in iron and steel sector in major countries as of 2000 and 2005.
Here we have estimated energy efficiency in the sector as of 2010, based on the latest data. We have also calculated CO2 reduction potentials in the case of ideal prevalence of best available technology in iron and steel sector (converter steel) based on energy estimates as of 2010.
As energy efficiency estimates reflect actual condition of technology prevalence level in each country well, our CO2 reduction potentials may give an important information for considering viable CO2 reduction countermeasures globally.
