CCS Technical Workshop 2022 - From Research and Development to Deployment-, Tokyo, 21 January 2022

Carbon Capture and Storage or CCS is a promising option for achieving carbon neutral and one of its essential parts is geological CO2 storage. Research and development for the deployment of geological CO2 storage in Japan has been being done by the Geological Carbon Dioxide Storage Technology Research Association (GCS) in the project of "the research and development of CO2-storage technology to implement safe CCS", commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

Deploying CCS at scale needs not only technical development but also political frameworks such as incentives for CCS developers and operators. In the CCS Technical Workshop 2022, therefore, both project updates and policy design are highlighted by international and domestic experts. GCS also reports its recent work on the demonstration of cutting-edge geological CO2 storage technologies, including the field demonstration of optic fiber measurement.

We are hoping that a great number of people will participate.

Note: The following corporations participate in the Geological Carbon Dioxide Storage Technology Research Association.

ITOCHU Corporation, ITOCHU Oil Exploration Co., Ltd., Oyo Corporation, Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd., TAISEI Corporation, J-POWER, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc., INPEX Corporation, JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth

Note: Due to the situation of COVID-19, the event will be held in a hybrid style that combines physical conference with Live Streaming.

Note: In order to prevent infections, the number of attendees at the venue will be limited. Therefore, we may not be able to ensure seats for all who register to participate at the venue.
