Research implementation System -Geological Carbon Dioxide Storage Technology Research Association and RITE -

Upgrading from pilot-scale injection to large-scale is important for practical use of CO2 underground storage, and in the process, not only verification of related technologies but also various By integrating the technology, it is possible to reduce the cost of the project.
Therefore, "carbon dioxide geological storage technology research association" was established on April 1, 2016 aiming at technology integration and cost reduction.
In addition to RITE and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) with abundant research achievements, this technical cooperative research universe has application fields such as Oyo Corporation, INPEX Corporation, Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd.(JAPEX) and Taisei Corporation. We will promote the practical application research of CCS by gathering a wide range of knowledge and expertise which the company consists of research institutes and private companies.
Under the framework of the Geological Carbon Dioxide Storage Technology Research Association (GCS), the CO2 Storage Research Group works on "Development on Safety Management Technologies for Large-scale CO2 Injection and Storage", "Technologies for Efficient Pressure Management and Utilization of Large-scale Reservoirs" and "Environment Setting for CCS Deployment and Standard Development" toward CCS commercialization. The major research activities and outcomes in the main research themes are outlined below.
