The RITE Chemical Research Group has been developing CO₂ molecular gate membranes for CO₂ separation and capture from syngas in integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) processes. CO₂ molecular gate membranes block the permeation of hydrogen gas through the quasi-crosslinking of CO₂ in the membrane. Therefore, this membrane exhibits significantly higher CO₂ selectivity than conventional polymer membranes.
